Photos for G-pa

Photos for Grandpa. The first two are what I bought with my $50 for Christmas. I got an irish knot ring on Saturday, the day me, Tracey and Missy celebrated St. Patty's day. The other two images are of the plant that was G-pa's moms?? Just wanted to show that there are new branches growing out of it. And the last pic is of the leprechaun Granny gave me for Christmas a few years ago. It was a lil guy she made back in the 80s.

Some photos I love from last Christmas of Granny's new Garage/House

I love these pictures because it shows the farm house in its new state. Granny and Grandpa took me around and showed me the little features that mom thought of...the ramp...the clothes rack and hidden area for it...the extra fridge...the cabinets....and GRANNY LOVED THE BATHROOM!!! She loooooved it! It was so nice to see her showing it off to me. Mom, you did such a wonderful job. These pic's might be hard to see now that Granny is in heaven, but I wanted to share these with Chris and Tracey so they could see the place. Oh, and Tracey...the thing granny is messing with...when she has her coat on and the scarf on..is the kitten cat-nip you made for her. :)
Granny thought I made her that scarf, but I didn't. I think Annie must have given it to her or something......

This is from pre-Christmas 2007...just one year ago!

So kinda some pretty cool things happening in the Mileski family.I tell you it's never dull over there.

Some back story: Howie and his high school girlfriend got preggers when she was 16. Deciding to have the baby the families got together and made the decision it would not be kept. No one knew about the baby except the immediate family and the two of them were told to never see each other again. Very after school special meets Hallmark Channel.

Well it's pretty inevitable that one day the child would find it's way back into their lives. And he has. Steve H. [of St. Paul ... I KNOW can you believe it?!] has spent over 17 years working the system trying to contact his birth parents.

Apparently "the system" isn't a friendly one. It really wants to set up the person for failure. Anyhow, the system only gives out the birth mothers information so earlier this year he got up the nerve to finally write a letter to her. The 17 years of time was also because he had a hard time working up the nerve.

The mom sat on the letter for a few months also trying to work up the nerve and finally contacted him giving him Howie's information. He called Howie last week!

This is such a big wonderful moment for him because he has commented in the past how often he thinks of his child and wonders what they are up to. He didn't know how to get a hold of him/her but desperately wanted them to be a part of his life in some way.

And now that time has come ... at a time when he really truly needs it.
I called Max last night [he's visiting Howie] and he said in a happy cheery tone, "Well, my brother just left!" He told me all about how the visit [actually his second in two days] went very well. He's mild mannered like Max is and is very nice with his feet on the ground as Max put it. He's tall like the men in the Mileski family. He is married with two boys, both of whom have Irish names. The one thing the system would tell him is his heritage and Howie is half polish half Irish. A polrish I guess huh? They are Aiden and Liam. One of the boys was born of February 5th just like his Uncle Max! Steve played drums in high school and also plays the piano [for those that don't know, the Mileski's eat drink and sleep music].
I'm a bit hazy on the other details, it was late when I finally reached him. I do know that Steve has great adoptive parents and was raised in a loving home.
All in all it is a happy time in the Mileski household.
Got to see Max and The Pearl off when he moved her to Bayfield last week. It was exciting to see what the onlookers see now. Wonder when we'll go under that bridge again?

Stormy Today

Heck of a wind out our way today 07/10/08 and mom was home alone and on the phone with me as she heard the house making very bad noises and then saw pieces of the siding flapping around. After it was all over and she was safe she found that the siding under the floor of the Sun room had been ripped off by the wind. I've attached the pictures she took.

just a tracey apartment update

Just to keep this blog updated ... and to give me another place to talk about my apartment.

Well I got the go-ahead to start moving in on Saturday.
With Max in the cities all weekend, I took I did as much work as I could without him.

I've decided to move room by room. Saturday as soon as my landlord left I painted one wall in the kitchen. It was the grubbiest and the wall the sink is on so I knew I'd look at it and be grossed out every time I washed the dishes. I didn't want to take on the task of painting the whole kitchen, so just did the one wall. I think it looks crisp and clean!
This kitchen is a bit smaller with adequate storage, wood floors and no wood paneling! It's very white and bright. I can't wait for you'all to come up and have a cup of coffee with me in my new kitchen ... cute cute cute.
I think I will use some left over fabric keri gave me to make a nice bright white shade so I can go to the fridge in my nightgown and not worry the neighbors are peeping in!

Tonight I'm focusing on the bathroom. It's half the size of my current bath ... but that just means less place for dog hair tumble weeds to gather. Man do they get everywhere!
Bought a new shower head for only $18 and it's a world of difference. I don't know how the old tenants even showered with the limecrusted old one. yuck. I'm going to treat max and I to some nice Aveda products as a housewarming gift to our self!

Charlie is loving the new place following me every time I went up there over the weekend and believe me it was A LOT! I am soooooo sore today. My calf muscles are killing me!

One thing I 'm really liking about the new place is how bright it stays up there into the night. Around 5 or 6 when I'd go down stairs it was considerably darker in my apartment. That's a real bonus ... I can't wait for the long summer nights to come!
