So kinda some pretty cool things happening in the Mileski family.I tell you it's never dull over there.

Some back story: Howie and his high school girlfriend got preggers when she was 16. Deciding to have the baby the families got together and made the decision it would not be kept. No one knew about the baby except the immediate family and the two of them were told to never see each other again. Very after school special meets Hallmark Channel.

Well it's pretty inevitable that one day the child would find it's way back into their lives. And he has. Steve H. [of St. Paul ... I KNOW can you believe it?!] has spent over 17 years working the system trying to contact his birth parents.

Apparently "the system" isn't a friendly one. It really wants to set up the person for failure. Anyhow, the system only gives out the birth mothers information so earlier this year he got up the nerve to finally write a letter to her. The 17 years of time was also because he had a hard time working up the nerve.

The mom sat on the letter for a few months also trying to work up the nerve and finally contacted him giving him Howie's information. He called Howie last week!

This is such a big wonderful moment for him because he has commented in the past how often he thinks of his child and wonders what they are up to. He didn't know how to get a hold of him/her but desperately wanted them to be a part of his life in some way.

And now that time has come ... at a time when he really truly needs it.
I called Max last night [he's visiting Howie] and he said in a happy cheery tone, "Well, my brother just left!" He told me all about how the visit [actually his second in two days] went very well. He's mild mannered like Max is and is very nice with his feet on the ground as Max put it. He's tall like the men in the Mileski family. He is married with two boys, both of whom have Irish names. The one thing the system would tell him is his heritage and Howie is half polish half Irish. A polrish I guess huh? They are Aiden and Liam. One of the boys was born of February 5th just like his Uncle Max! Steve played drums in high school and also plays the piano [for those that don't know, the Mileski's eat drink and sleep music].
I'm a bit hazy on the other details, it was late when I finally reached him. I do know that Steve has great adoptive parents and was raised in a loving home.
All in all it is a happy time in the Mileski household.
Got to see Max and The Pearl off when he moved her to Bayfield last week. It was exciting to see what the onlookers see now. Wonder when we'll go under that bridge again?

Stormy Today

Heck of a wind out our way today 07/10/08 and mom was home alone and on the phone with me as she heard the house making very bad noises and then saw pieces of the siding flapping around. After it was all over and she was safe she found that the siding under the floor of the Sun room had been ripped off by the wind. I've attached the pictures she took.
